Good selection of synths, very modern sounding.. the drums sound a tad old fashioned though.. have you tried making your own drums? Hahaha it might be a bit of a journey, but I can assure you if you find the way, it's more than worth it.

DjGubkafish responds:

Thank you .

To be honest i don't find using midi input effective for drums . I just use something similar to fruity kicker for beats, claps and snares .

I do make a lot of bass leads though which technically could be converted to beats.

Totally dug the melodies in this one and the way you manipulate the sounds across the track.. it's good variety and evolution! Keep that idea up, which you can certainly expand on and push even more and in unique ways

DjGubkafish responds:

Thank you very much .

I think music expands not with skill but with character . This track represents my current personalty so hopefully i have more growth in the future .

It's very cool to see how you're coming along and gaining control over your sounds.. EQ really makes your sounds shine in your way, that's totally the key, you got it

Chemiqals responds:

Thanks, much appreciated! ^_^

I really enjoyed this track because, I can tell you felt the beat. Many people would dismiss it at repetitive but that's absolute nonsense. Try playing it at a party and you'll see it's perfect for it

Chemiqals responds:

Haha thanks! I'm not usually a fan of the "average" house song, but I love exploring different sounds and I wanted to make something fun and simple for something like well... you said it. A party!

pretty sweet vintage sounding synths, liked the soundscape you create with those textures. I also dug the drum break transition. As a suggestion, at 1:31 the cymbals sound a bit dry in comparison to the rest of the sounds, which make them stick out. I liked their presence, though if you are looking for a more seamless integration a light use of reverb would put them in the mix more firmly. The kick seems to be drowned out a little in the mix... try carving out a bit of space in the bass for the kick! I'd also say that carving a bit more eq frequencies for the synths would make your mix a bit clearer at times as well. all around, nice job, hope to hear more of your stuff soon!

8-bitheroes responds:

Thanks for your feedback! I think you made a good point about the kick, it does need a bit more presence. I'm really working on building up my EQ skills so il give it a shot.

I just had to write a review after reading Voltus's pompous review and thinking he might be kind of a pretentious jerk. At the same time, he does have a couple points. Mixing.. the drums are a bit lost in the mix because they are overpowered by the synths... it might just be a quick and easy matter of turning the synths down to match the volume of the drums. As far as the chords, I had no problem with them, they are pretty fun and you do a good job of adding and taking away various loops at different times, so interest isn't lost. Either way, it does add a lot to a track to have a 'b' section, or even more sections than that... it adds to the longevity of the track. The synth sounds are totally fine, keep doin your thing and don't be afraid to turn things down in your mixes.

EctiBot responds:

Thank you so much for the review :D.
Yes I can hear that the drums got kinda lost in the mix I'll try adjusting the volumes a bit :).
I'm glad you like the chords and your probably right in that I should try adding a b section. I'll that on my next song :D.

Again, thank you so much for the review. It's really helpful and helps me improve :).

I loved that there were various contrasting sections in this that keep interest high, and the piano loop is fantastic.. great reverb and chords. Watch out for some of the harmonies conflicting in this track.

Chemiqals responds:

Thanks for the feedback! =)

great work on the beat! Hey u know, u can always consider doing short tracks and not calling them "loops." What I mean is if you just repeated the intro at the end or come up with a way to end it, you could call that a complete 2:00 track. Nothing wrong with a short track, if anything you say just what you wanna say. As far as the sounds, I thought the snare could be a tad punchier.. have u played with sidechain compression in much of your music?

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks for the all the reviews. Yeah, I could do that. I just like the way it loops. It's infinite. MIt's a work in progress though. And yeah, I have and do use side-chain compression -- I'm not really into it though. I just prefer a good mix.

totally dug the synths in this one, super engaging in their slight unpredictability. I'd suggest playing a bit with compression on the individual drums for a bit more punch, though I enjoyed this mix.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

I appreciate you taking some time to check out more of my work, man. You're gettin' all the work-in-progress pieces. :P

I enjoyed your use of reverb and depth, as well as the variety in the sounds. Clearly it's well constructed and a lot of time has gone into it, and there are great things about that. That quote on the description is absolute academic bullcrap that you have to read like 5 times to even understand, and when you do, it's just meaningless pretentious garbage. As a suggestion for future tracks, I recommend thinking more in terms of dance. It's clear that there are some sections that are more danceable, though in general it's an atmospheric track that might be seen a bit more like an introductory track than the "meat and bones" of something a little more concrete. I'm sure a lot of ambient ppl would trash me for that statement, but whatever.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks for listening and the dropping some words. I didn't write the description. Was just a copy-paste job from the associated Soundcloud. While I appreciate the recommendation. I don't focus on the danceable element. But, if you can dance to some of it, that's always good too. Perhaps you just have to be a particular kind of dancer. Just rhythms and melodies that I enjoy. I just make music. My purpose for making it is because I want to; I like to. It's for me. Biding time till death.
