Very cool track!! The interest is constant throughout, the sounds change in a very engaging way, and the energy is maintained throughout! Hope you feel proud of this one. As a suggestion for future tracks, it sounds to me like the drums are slightly prepackaged.. change the EQ/compression on them or do something else to make them a bit more unique to your sound and your sound will have even more credibility. All-around great work!

EctiBot responds:

Thx! This review really made my day XD. Glad it gave you an energetic feel :). Was what I was aiming for and yes. I do actually feel proud about this one, especially so many nice reviews XD.
I'll definetly take your tip about the drums in consideration :D. Never really thought about mixing with the sound of the drums :). Usually only use samples I get from friends and the web, but now I'll try making my own, special sounding kicks as well :). This is why I love getting reviews. It really helps me to improve.

Thx alot for the review and btw, I loved your submission as well :). I'll drop a review on it later today ;).

I enjoyed the composition, melodies, it's a solid track.. very interesting soundscape, and it totally works! The lyrics really put you in the scene you're describing, and the music puts you there in a different way which is awesome. You may already have considered these, but these are some stylistic ideas I thought about as I listened.. have you considered putting a subtle very quick delay on one of the vocals and turning down the other overdubbed vocal? Also, it might be interesting to hear what the background vocals sound like if you overdub them a few more times and put them more in the background!

motakay responds:

Thanks alot! Makes me glad you like it!
Very interesting thoughts, maybe I'll try that later! It's the first time I am experimenting with dubbing the vocals so will definitly explore it some more! :)

It's a great buildup, you don't lose interest at all even though it's "quiet." This shows me that you have the potential to reach the top of the NG charts, and I hope to see you there someday.

JimmyTheCaterpillar responds:

Ha! Maybe one day...

Nice tune, really laid back groove, and theres enough variation in sounds to make it sound complete even at a bit over 2 min

jonesstoke responds:

Thanks for the comment pal glad ya liked it :)

Nice piano sound, great chords, right on! I really think this jazzy approach will be useful in the future!

jonesstoke responds:

haha thanks a bunch! glad you liked it :)

Cool synth arp effect with the drone underneath it. Even though you say it's a videogame song I consider this kind of thing to be completely acceptable outside of a videogame setting.

Acidicfriend responds:

thank you!
I consider it a video game song cause two of the four synths I used is from chipsound, a chiptune vsti.
so I kinda just thought it as something that has that kind of feel.

I dug this track, and if you extend it you could definitely show it to people and it would be legit. It might not be too hard to extend it seeing as you already have several sections in this 1 min sample. In particular, I really liked the funky off beat stuff you do in the beginning and the choice of sounds. I really think that "chill" vibe is something that is totally happening right now.

Acidicfriend responds:

thanks bro! I'm working on the track everyday so, soon it'll be done, the drop might be changed for something completely more chill.
atm, it's a bit out of place!
thanks for the review~ ! :)

Pretty dark stuff.. I like the beat. I think that the main melody sound is a bit too unchanging... the sound itself doesn't really move very much, and it would be nice if you added a different section.. maybe also taking that sound out and having just drums at some point midway through to make it sound fresh.. I get that you're imagining it with vocals though it could really use multiple breaks/sections either way.

SuburbanBeats responds:

thanks for the criticism and yeah I was imaging with vocals haha and I knew I shoulda thrown some drum brakes in. Ill keep that in mind but thanks for the comment (:

way to stick up for yourself and leave it just like that instead of completing it.. if that's the length you want perfect. I'd watch out with the dissonances in this track especially at 1:00.. dissonances are ok if used properly but they can sound like wrong notes

Random-storykeeper responds:

Thank you, although the length was intentional. I might extend it, but it's not in my immediate plans right now.

I see what you mean about the dissonances and although I have adjusted to listening to them, I might change some of the notes around.

You're totally on track on the space music if you ask me, and the loops work very well together. Have you ever thought if there's a difference between space music and futuristic music? I wonder if you'd enjoy ableton since I think I read you work on protools.. the organization is so much easier even though it sounds like you have a grasp on the DAW

DjGubkafish responds:

Thank you sir .

For me space and future is somewhat the same thing because the same technology that put people in space is used in everyday lives .

I don't use ableton because i just do sequencing inside VST that have sequencing editors in them .
